Homemade Mozzarella Stick

I have yet to find a fried cheese that I don’t like. Cheddar, white cheddar, brie, and of course mozzarella. These homemade fried mozzarella sticks are great for a night in instead of a night out!

Ingredients

8 pieces of string cheese
1/4 cup flour
1 egg
1 Tablespoon milk
3/4 cup panko breadcrumbs
2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes
Dash of grated parmesan
Vegetable oil
Marinara sauce (optional)

Instructions

1. Cut string cheese in half
2. Put flour in a small bowl
3. In a second bowl whisk together egg and milk
4. In a third bowl mix panko, parsley, and parmesan
5. One at a time, roll a piece of string cheese through the flour, then the egg, then the panko
6. Place mozzarella stick on a pan covered with wax paper
7. When all sticks have been rolled through panko and placed on the pan, put them in the freezer for 30 minutes
8. Start vegetable oil in pan over medium heat (I put enough oil in the pan to cover half of the mozzarella stick)
9. When the oil is hot place frozen mozzarella sticks in the pan so they each have enough room to be turned
10. Fried for 1-2 minutes per side until golden brown then remove with a deep frying skimmer (or any metal spatula)
11. Enjoy… with marinara if so chose!
