Basic Pan Fried Turkey Burger

Ingredients 

1/2 pound ground turkey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 Tablespoon canola oil
1 medium red onion diced
2 slices of Swiss cheese
2 slices of Rye bread

Instructions 

  1. Heat oil in pan over medium heat
  2. Add salt and pepper to ground turkey, mix well
  3. Form two round patties 
  4. Place patties in cast iron skillet or nonstick pan
  5. Add onions around patties immediately 
  6. Cook for 6-7 minutes while stirring onions
  7. Flip patties and cook for 6 minutes continuing to stir onions
  8. Add cheese and cook until melted
  9. Toast 2 slices of Rye bread and cut in half
  10. Serve patties with onions on toasted Rye bread

Tip: For a more juicy turkey burger you can mix half a beaten egg and a splash of milk to the ground turkey for extra moisture.
